Our program is dedicated to gymnastics success as a part of a balanced life. We want our gymnasts to be successful yet well-rounded. We understand that to succeed in gymnastics you must love the sport. Our program is different from many others because we value all the activities that make your child special. We celebrate their success in gymnastics but value commitment in other areas of their lives. Many of our gymnasts are scholar-athletes who attend Magnet Schools with demanding courseloads. We can help your child succeed the sport without sacrificing excellence in the classroom. A few of our atheletes are homeschooled.
Our training model emphasizes high coaching ratios with small groups and moderate workout schedules. This approach allows our gymnasts to workout effectively and efficiently on a slightly less intense schedule than is customary at the higher levels. The result is more time available to pursue other important activities without sacrificing excellence in the gym. High level athletes can arrange more intense schedules if needed. Come explore a new way to train!
Our team girls all workout together. Groups are subdivided, each practice based on activities to be conducted. Training groups are ever changing. This allows the gymnast to be comfortable working out with all her team mates and not to identify herself with one group or level within the team. Since we are continually uptraining skills, lower level students may be working on the same skills during a workout that higher level girls are performing. Younger girls and older girls of the same level may train together to learn or perfect routines but may train with other groups when working on skills. Groups will usually train extensively with others of their own level right before a meet.
Gymnastics is a year round sport. The training season last approximately half the year, the competition season also lasts approximately half the year and culminates in a State Championship. There is a short post-season during which Regional and National Meets are conducted. Gaby has had participants in all USAG sanctioned Championship Meets all the way through Level 10 USAG National Championships. Gaby has also sent athletes to the USAIGC Collegebound Meet.
Training levels and competition levels are usually determined immediately before the competition season based on skills acquired during the training season and competition readiness. Gaby's Gymnastics has had many State Champions, Regional Medalists and Nationals Participants.
USAG organizes competition based on progression through competion levels. Levels 1 through 3 are non-competitive training levels in which the gymnast learns the basics of the apparatus and training in groups. To improve their physical abilities much time is spent on strength and flexibilty while also working on rhythm and learning to dance. Levels 4 through 6 are compulsory levels during which all gymnasts perform the same routines and are judged in competition against a "perfectly performed" compulsory routine. Levels 7 through 10 are optional levels in which the gymnast performs their own routine determined by the USAG rules for that level.
Children are selected for the team based on their potential to perform at a higher level based on the coaches observation of their basic skills, physical abilities, interest in progression in the sport, ability to listen and respond to instruction and attendance. While natural ability is very important in this sport, determination and hardwork will also be considered when selecting preteam athletes.

Our current team is comprised of 16 girls from age 7-16 ranging from Level 4 to Level 9. Our team is small so that all girls get lots of individualized attention from all the coaches but especially from Gabriela Geiculescu the Head Coach and Owner. Gaby is a former Romanian National Team member who trained under Bela and Marta Karolyi while she was still in Romania. Gaby competed as an International Junior Elite and was selected for the 1980 Romanian Olympic Team. Sadly, her career ended abruptly following a physical in Romania when it was discovered that she had fractured her back while training. Gaby immigrated to the United States in 1989. She opened her first location in Nashville in 1995 and has been in her current location since 1999. Gaby has two children Alex, age 19 and Cora, age 16. Gaby brings a deep understanding of the sport and a sincere love for her gymnasts and students. Her focused individualized attention to her students is one of the many qualities which sets Gaby's Gymnastics School Inc. apart from other programs.
